TRIP TO IRELAND
RETURN UPDATE!
We played two glorious concerts in Killarney, thanks to musician and promotor Tim O'Shea(timosheaandfriends.com). We couldn't have done it without the beautiful harps most generously lent to us by Tim O'Carroll - maker of Killarney Harps(killarneyharps.com)
We then went onto Limerick to participate in Janet Harbison's 'Lion of Ireland' production. We shared the stage with 30 or so French harpers and 20 or so Irish harpers and one Italian harper, along with wire harp player, Ann Heyman and six Highland pipers and a gorgeous chorus.
It was quite the experience and when we get the video edited, we'll put it up.
A big 'thank you' to all our generous supporters and cd's and bags will be mailed shortly.
UPDATE!
We've been performing and busking and getting close to our fundraising goal. We leave this Thursday and we are busy packing and practicing. We all have matching T shirts so we don't lose one another! Thank you for all your support and we'll post pictures on Facebook and Twitter. The Ensemble just received their new CD titled "Another County Heard From". It's available vis snail mail by emailing Regina at [email protected]. And it's available on iTunes, Amazon etc.
Welcome to our ‘trip to Ireland’ page where we’ll be sharing our plans, fundraising events, pictures, and video related to the trip. Here’s the background; Janet Harbison(http://www.irishharpcentre.com) is hosting a Brian Boru Festival (http://brianborumillenium.com) to honor the 1000th anniversary of the death of Brian Boru, one of the greatest High Kings of Ireland. There will be performances of her Brian Boru Suite and we have been invited to perform in Ireland with her. We are very excited to perform in Ireland but this is a very expensive undertaking for us. The trip for ten of the members to go to Ireland will cost approximately $38, 000. We are hoping to raise half that amount and cover the other half ourselves.
Airfare is over $15,000; van and car hire is around $3000; Janet Harbison's fee and our board in Limerick is over $9000; rooms in Killarney - where we'll be giving a concert on Saturday 16 August 2014 is over $700. And these figures don't include food, gas etc.
This is a tremendous to opportunity to showcase The New England Irish Harp Orchestra on the world stage and make New England proud. Other harpers from Italy and France will also be participating.
We've been very lucky so far with sponsors. Dan Dooley car hire has given us great prices on renting the van for harp transport, and our cars(dandooley.com); Colorado Case Company has given us a nice discount on our travel cases(coloradocase.com), and Tim O'Carroll(killarneyharps.com) is loaning harps to those of us not bringing harps to Ireland.
We have a number of concerts coming up with the monies going to the trip.
Please consider helping with a donation of any amount. You can safely donate via Paypal(see below) or mail a check made out to Regina Delaney and mail it to PO Box 343 Exeter, NH 03833.
We are sending the letter below as part of our fundraising efforts. Please feel free to forward this to folks who might like to contribute.
And THANK YOU VERY MUCH
